After high school graduation, Laurel attended Edmonds CC and the U of W.  She married, gave birth to 3 sons and divorced. She worked in retail, then began a 21 year career at GTE (Verizon).

"In 1993 I retired as a Service Training Manager.  Like eveyone else, I can't believe it's been fifty years.  I look in the mirror and wonder when I got that older overweight roommate, and why isn't she doing more housework?  My youngest son Alex is a writer in Manhattan,  I take a couple trips a year to see him and his family, and also take in a few museums and Broadway shows.  Sons Brian (a manager for a large paving company) and Bruce (a high schools teacher) live closer to home, so I spend a lot of time with them and their families.  There are ten grand children, which means I watch a lot of soccer, baseball, basketball and ballet.  I enjoy reading, gardening, traveling, politics, time with family and friends, and of course, moonlit walks on a sandy beach!  Still laughing, loving and learning.  I have a family obligation the weekend of the reunion, but I'll try to stop by for a while."

Wow 50 years!  Doesn't seem possible since I'm still in my 30's (until I look in the mirror).  I've been married twice to two Dans, have two wonderful children by Dan No. 1 and several step children, whom I dearly love.

With two degrees in public health, most of my career was spent in the health care field in administration, teaching and community organizing.  I also helped start Island Strings and taught violin for 12 years.

Dan No. 2 and I live on Whidbey Island where I have lived since 1971 (he since 2000).  I keep busy with gardening, playing music, doing peace work, traveling and writing.

My daughter, Carissa lives in Seattle and is a mental health therapist, a life coach and a musician.  My son, Lyle lives in Beijing, is marrying a Chinese woman this summer in China, and plans to move back to the U.S. to go to graduate school.  No grandchildren yet....

Looking forward to seeing all of you at the reunion!
